Siemens to provide parts to Turkish power plant

Wednesday, Feb 24, 2010

German industrial conglomerate Siemens AG announced it will supply components to a power plant in Denizli, Turkey, in a deal valued at euro110 million ($150 million).

Siemens, based in Munich, said it would supply one steam turbine, two gas turbines, three generators and the necessary electrical equipment, instrumentation and controls for the project.

The new combined-cycle power plant with installed capacity of approximately 775 megawatts will be located on the outskirts of Denizli, in west Anatolia, a region with strong economic growth.

"With this order we can further expand our position in this attractive power plant market, and at the same time make an important contribution toward ecofriendly power supply in the region," Michael Suess, the chief executive of Siemens' fossil power generation division, said in a statement.
